IMCB Company Visit : IMCB Goes to Vinilon

Program Recap

The International Marketing Community of Binus (IMCB) student organization held a company visit to the Vinilon Group, a leading company in the field of piping systems in Indonesia, on September 20 2024. There were forty participants from various departments who attended the event. This event aims to introduce students to Vinilon's technological innovations and sustainable marketing practices. The event takes place from 13:00 to 17:30.

Opening and Welcome Session: Christian Rudolf and Rahmat Budiman, representatives of Vinilon, are the main speakers responsible for marketing and innovation of Vinilon products. In his speech, Vinilon shared its history as one of the providers of integrated piping system solutions in Indonesia. Vinilon Group has been established since 1979 and has grown with a focus on environmental sustainability and innovation in high-quality piping products such as HDPE, uPVC and PPR pipes.

Through recyclable products and energy-efficient manufacturing processes, Vinilon focuses not only on making products, but also on how they can help change the world to a greener one.

Material Session: Sustainable Marketing in the Modern Era: Christian Rudolf explains how Vinilon applies the concept of sustainability in marketing. Sustainable marketing notes that the primary goal is not just selling merchandise but also ensuring that the merchandise contributes to environmental sustainability. Christian explains that sustainable marketing efforts include the following:

Environmentally friendly products: use recyclable raw materials, such as PE and uPVC pipes, and use environmentally friendly inks and packaging.

Use of renewable energy: Solar panels are installed in production facilities to reduce the carbon footprint.

Christian also shows how important environmental principles are in influencing the decisions made by modern consumers. Companies that demonstrate social and environmental responsibility, such as Vinilon, gain a competitive advantage in the marketplace as consumer awareness of environmental issues increases.

Field Review Session and Visits to Divisions: After the presentation session, participants were invited to visit various departments in the Vinilon office. Students have the opportunity to see:

The Production Department is where they can see the pipe manufacturing process from start to finish.

The CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) department shows Vinilon's efforts to help the community through clean water and blood donation programs, and the marketing department shows how the overall marketing strategy is implemented through digital and traditional marketing. This visit is very valuable for students to see firsthand how the theory is studied at Bang.

Active Question and Answer Session and Discussion: The question and answer (QnA) session is the most anticipated session. Students are very interested in asking about the problems and innovations Vinilon faces when implementing sustainable marketing strategies. One of the questions asked was:

How does Vinilon address the issue of costs that may increase when using environmentally friendly materials?

How does Vinilon ensure that customers understand and appreciate the sustainable value inherent in the goods they purchase?

What methods does Vinilon use to enter the international market?

Christian and Rahmat are happy to answer questions. They explain that despite cost concerns, investing in sustainability will ultimately provide long-term benefits for businesses. This will reduce operational costs and increase customer loyalty.

In this case, the company's visit to Vinilon not only gave students the opportunity to learn, but also made them think more critically about how they, as future marketers, could help business and the environment.

The takeaway from Vinilon's visit is that successful businesses don't just sell goods, they also have a positive impact on society and the environment. Vinilon shows how businesses can grow and thrive without sacrificing sustainability. This event not only taught IMCB students about sustainable marketing, but they also gained inspiration to apply these values in their careers. Students become better prepared to face challenges in the world of work, especially in marketing, which is increasingly concerned with environmental and social issues. This is achieved through interactive question and answer sessions and visits to various departments.
